This event has been designed with the sole purpose of bringing to light as much information as possible on recent refracturing efforts. Tim Leshchyshyn, P. Eng. has a Chemical Engineering Degree majoring in Computer Process Control from the University of Alberta with 20 years' experience in the field of Petroleum Engineering. As president of FracKnowledge, the only independent fracturing engineering group in Canada, one of five in the world, he leads a group of 25 employees and consultants whose clients include 70 operators and service companies in 17 countries on five continents. The work on conventional and unconventional oil and gas wells has included reviewing past fracs for design or operational improvements, optimizing frac designs, and supervising the execution of fracs. Direct execution of the fracs ensures quality assurance and design changes minute by minute and stage by stage to maximize the goals of the frac. Often integration of petrophysical rock mechanics, injection tests calibrating models and frac simulators are commonly employed.
He has also released the largest online frac and completions database for Canada and the United States. This database is tied to production provided on a map and table interface. It contains scanned well files, daily operations reports, logs and various other documents, and used as a source for the details of the presentations he gives and courses he teaches.
In the past as an employee, he has worked for operators, national oil companies, service companies and research institutes. Experience includes teaching courses, optimizing horizontal multistage fractured, supervising fracturing operations and multi-client studies. Mr. Leshchyshyn is also the main inventor on 20 fracturing patents and is an expert in frac fluid chemistry, proppant, and business development. He is a member of APEGA, organizes courses, technical events and conferences. Tim has served as a SPE board of director, CSUR technical committee member and PTAC program volunteer.

...bringing together under one roof, for the very first time, data from latest case history results, technological advances in refracturing tools, cutting edge R&D projects along with subject matter experts, to equip operators will all the available information to answer the industry's number one question:
"Is there sufficient evidence to validate the ability of refracturing to significantly improve the economic margins of existing shale wells when operators can no longer afford to drill new ones?"
There has been very little evidence to date about the successes and failures of refracturing and the parameters associated with those successes or failures, making it next to impossible for operators to evaluate the feasibility of using refracturing as a means to increase production whilst keeping costs low.
This will be the first event to showcase under one roof, a combination of the latest case study results, forward thinking research and latest refracturing technological advancements to enable operators to understand:
a) What makes a well a good candidate for refracturing
b) If any operational best practices for refracturing have been established to date - is there an optimal way to technically execute an effective refracture?
c) What kind of production results have been seen from available pilot programs and research & development programs to verify the operational success and economic viability
d) If there are any technological advancements that have managed to increase the success rate of refracture operations
